Shifter RPG

Archaea stood, widening his stance as best he could with his bad legs. Nothing happened. Moments passed.
Sweat dripped down the side of his face.
Then the trees in front of him exploded as he was knocked over and pinned down.
"ARCHAEA!"

Difference and Down stood hidden, not knowing how to take the presence of a demi-god.

Mathiarus had pinned him in a sort of strangle-hold, one hand on his throat and one forcing the air from his lungs.
Archaea breathed as best he could. "Mathiarus... I-"
"You NOTHING!"
Archaea gasped in air.

Difference stayed silent, and twitched slightly as she saw what was going on.

Down stayed unmoved.

"Mathiarus, calm down... I can't... I can't breathe"
Mathiarus lightened his grip and Archaea coughed violently.
'Why are you off the island?!" His voice was lined with a horrible anger, eyes bloodshot.

She was itching. She wanted to maul that demi-god so bad, if even to get Archaea free for the moment, it would still be worth it. But she stood in place, waiting.

Archaea didn't reply. He closed his eyes as if wishing the demi-god would leave him alone.
Mathiarus pushed down fiercely on his chest, causing Archaea sharp pain.
"As long as you're off the island, you're prey to me, demon," He snarled, "now answer my questions,"
Archaea only groaned in pain.

Difference continued watching, knowing not to go near. But she needed to do something.. She felt so useless. Useless. She hated that.

"Unfortunately, I can't kill you," He said, releasing the pressure he put on the boy. "Your mother requested I bring you home still breathing,"
"A... little too late for that..." He coughed.
He dragged Archaea off the ground by his collar. "You're coming with me,"
"N-no... I'm not... not yet..." he stuttered, "Give me a few days, please... I'll come back, I'm a man of my word..."

Difference watched, shaking yet again. She couldn't watch this any longer. She glanced at Down who had been contently watching for a while now. Then again, that's just like him.

Mathiarus looked at him the same way a king looks at a peasant.
After a silence filled only by Archaea's raspy breathing, he said, "You have three days," then he dropped Archaea in a heap.

Difference turned back to the scene, waiting for the demi-god to leave.

Mathiarus turned his gaze to the bushes. He'd known they were there the whole time.
"Samantha will come shortly to accompany you." He turned and bursted off into the sky, leaving the words 'she's the closest thing to a doctor that you'll accept' hanging in his wake.

Difference ran out to Archaea, shifting human. She opened her mouth to say something but nothing escaped. Down emerged from his hiding spot as well, saying nothing.

"Sorry about that," was all he could manage to strangle out.

"Don't be." she responded. "Sit up straight so the air can get to your lungs, alright?"

He did as he was told, groaning.
"Mathiarus sure is pushy..."

"No doubt about that," she agreed. "You..alright?"

He thought about how he would reply.
"No, no I'm not."

"...Don't make me feel any worse than I feel right now." she half-growled at him. "Sorry I couldn't--well, didn't do anything."

"I'm glad you didn't," He said slowly, "He would've snapped your neck,"

"Like he almost did to you?" she said. "Lets just be glad nothing bad really happened."

"Yeah, let's be glad..."

"Come on.." she said, still kneeling next to him. "Can you get up?" She asked, extending a hand to help him up.

A couple of days passed and sure as sugar, Samantha came.
Archaea lied against a tree and watched her descend. She touched the ground silently and instantly jumped at the sight of Archaea's wounds.
