Shifter RPG

Down looked over. He had already seen her friend before, the one who now looked at him so strangely, his own strange choice in clothes had set him out but he really didn't care what he wore. A cripple. He almost scoffed. "...Your friend?"

She blinked, looking at Arch she laughed. "Looks like it, doesn't it? Though, not quite."

"Hrm."

"Why don't we take this somewhere else, shall we?" she said, already beginning to walk away.

Down followed, slightly amused. "Don't like the open, eh?"

"Something like that." She said, her voice lowering every word. She knew what comes next.

Archaea didn't want to interrupt them. He wanted to stop Difference and her ideas, but he had to get a crutch first.
He limped over, set the money on the table, gingerly got into position with it under his arm, and moved quickly over to where Diff and Down had gone.

"You cut your hair, eh? Doesn't look any different." He coughed, surprised he even noticed.
"Does it matter? Your sh** looks no better either." She said, seemingly calm, her fingers twitching.
"..What."

Archaea stood just out of their way but close enough that they knew he was there.
He reached for his hat but managed to knock it off instead of readjust it. He caught it mid-fall and slammed it back on his head, hoping he hadn't just done something incredibly stupid.

Down scoffed. "A friend of yours, eh?"

"..Something like that." She smiled, shifting wolf.

Down shifted cat, hesitating. He had suspected she had come back ust for a fight. But this bloodthirst of hers...just wasn't right.
Difference attacked immediately.

"Damn it," said Archaea. But he made no attempt to stop her. He just pulled his hat down fiercely.

Down evaded her strikes easily, realizing he was being purposely backed into a tree. Turning around, he clawed up it and jumped off shifting mid air. He swiped out a knife and hit Difference clean in the muzzle. Shifting human, she intended to attack. Down caught her midway, kicking her away. He stood and waited.

Archaea leaned on his crutch, one hand grasping his hat as he saw how easily Diff was being struck down. He wanted to do something, but...

Diff got up, charging for him, shifting and aiming for the arm with the knife, only to cring from a cut down the nose. She growled and bit him in the arm. Down twisted away, slamming Diff into the ground with his free arm.

The fight was feral now, like two animals disputing over territory. Still he leaned, feeling unnaturally weak watching.

Difference got up, going to attack him again. Though Down's thoughts had lead him to think this was pointless. So he decided to end it quick. As she attacked, he shifted cat, evading them and striking his own blow on her spine. (YAY) She shifted human then, shuddering from the pain. Down shifted human as well, picking her up by the shoulder, in which a crunch was heard, and muttering something before kicking her back down. Difference layed in silence, her body shaking and cringing. "Well, alright." she gasped, stumbling in a sitting position, her body still shaking. "I've had enough." she almost laughed, her sight was blurry with tears.

Archaea couldn't speak. He was reminded of how much his leg hurt from the way Diff was shaking.

"Figures." he said, not looking at her. He couldn't.

"...Are we done here?" he asked, though left without an answer.

Archaea tossed aside his crutch to kneel beside Difference. "Need help?" He asked, hand out.

She pushed his hand away, sniffing. "Naw, I'm fine." she said. Standing up with all her effort. "Hh..HEY!! I'M NOT DONE WITH YOU!" She shouted, taking off after Down, stumbling and cringing from pain. She stood in front of Down now, panting. "I guess we aren't on the same level, anymore." she said with a gasp, coughing. "But I want you-" she breathed, "to come with us."

"Whaat? Why? More importantly why are you with a demon?" He growled.

"He's not bad. But he's the one that's got me into this mess. And Now I feel like dragging someone in."

Archaea, still kneeling, dropped his head and stared at the ground. He was suddenly aware of how small he felt, how weak, how...
Useless
He took off his cap and stared at it.

When Archaea left, it had been noon. His tribe was nocturnal, so it was the best time to take flight. He'd felt so strong, so brave.
Then the soft patting of light feet reached his ears.
"Archaea? What are you doing up?"
He turned to face her.
"Sam, I-"
She titled her head, her long hair sweeping over one drowsy eye.
"You aren't... leaving, are you?"
"I'd come back, I swear,"
"You can't just leave like that, Archie,"
"Why not?" He protested.
"Everyone and their kid is going to know you're a demon. Here," She took off her cap and handed it to him.
He set it gingerly on his head and adjusted it. "It's a little small, but..."
"Come back soon, okay?"

Diff grinned at him, "Things don't always go as planned, now do they?"

He couldn't help but grin back. "No I guess not."


"Oh hey..." Difference muttered.

"..what?"

"Your actually looking down on me. Why am I short."

"Well hey."

He looked the cap up and down. Sam was such a nice person to have given him this. He missed her. She was his closest friend.

(I don't even know.) She begun to walk back, with Down following her.

Archaea pulled the cap down again and struggled to get up, grabbing the crutch and steadying himself with it.

Difference appeared with Down following her.

"He's coming with us. Is that alright?" she asked Arch.

"I guess," He said, staring straight at Down with an unimpressed expression.

"...Well f***, then." Difference stated, running her hands through her hair. "What now?"

"I guess we should g-" Archaea paused sharply, like a mouse that sensed the presence of a hawk.
A moment passed and he seemed to disappear as the shadow of fear crossed him.
"You two need to hide now," he said after what seemed like an eternity.

"What." Difference said, though Down obeyed as soon as the world hide had escaped his mouth.

"Well, okay." she said, heading off to hide on her own.
